Jeanette Walker Jones (Lumbee) is an 81-year-old retired Indian Education Coordinator for Baltimore City Public Schools. She moved to East Baltimore with her family, as a teenager. In 1966, she moved to the Watersedge community of Dundalk where she resides today.

Jeanette remains involved in Baltimore’s American Indian community life through the Baltimore American Indian Center and South Broadway Baptist Church. She also enjoys walking and engaging with her community in Watersedge. Jeanette is concerned that the Baltimore Native community will stick together less in the future.

She hopes that the youth will keep their relationships and culture alive, and be proud of their heritage. She emphasizes that Native Americans are survivors and have worked hard to be successful in life.
